Passion for Justice Lives On
 |
Lucy Knoll CSJ, or Rita Knoll during her high school days, is one alumnus who lives out the tradition of St. Joseph’s Academy to this day. She remembers that the quality of her education gave her the sense that she could do anything as a woman. Her fervor for justice work was instilled at St. Joseph’s Academy. She vividly recalls her social studies class during junior year where she first studied societal trends and the development of unions. As a Sister of St. Joseph, the lessons Lucy learned at the Academy have come to fruition through her work in the CSJ Justice Commission. She works primarily with Revelations, the Commission’s newsletter that educates the public on social justice issues. |

The Justice Commission reaches out to oppressed populations through its working groups and raises awareness in the community about societal injustices that cause oppression. Top priorities include dismantling racism, immigrant rights, and environmentalism.
